Meet our teachers and see what makes Rainy Dayz so special
Miss Amanda joined Rainy Dayz at the start of the 2017-2018 school year. She was raised in a military family, her father was in the Navy, and graduated from high school and college in California. She has lived in Washington for 24 years.
She started working with children in 1988 and loves to “see the world through their eyes.” She is a mother of five – three girls and two boys – and has been married to her husband for 28 years. When she’s not at Rainy Dayz she loves to sew and do crafts and spend time outdoors with her family.
Miss Sarah joined Rainy Dayz at the start of the 2018-2019 school year and assists Miss Amanda in the 2’s Class. Before joining the school she was part of the Rainy Dayz family as a parent — her daughter graduated from Rainy Dayz and her son is currently attending the school.
Miss Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, baking and has a side hobby of rehabbing old furniture.
“Childhood is not a race to see how quickly a child can read, write and count. Childhood is a small window of time to learn and develop at the pace which is right for each individual child.”
Miss Lisa began her sixth year leading the 3’s class at the start of the 2018-2019 school year. She strives to create a classroom environment where each child feels welcomed and special every time they walk through the door.
Knowing a child loves and looks forward to their days at preschool “gives me such a sense of fulfillment,” Lisa says, adding “it is an honor to be a part of this special time of their lives!”
Miss Nicole joined Rainy Dayz at the start of the 2017-2018 school year to lead the school’s second 3’s class as part of its expansion. Before teaching she was part of the Rainy Dayz family as a parent and former member of the Board of Directors. After taking a number of years off to grow her family (she has three children) Nicole was ready to return to the classroom. She enjoys the preschool years because they are “unbelievably special” and a “developmentally vital time” for children. She loves to play a role in supporting this critical period with thoughtful, play-based activities that nurture their natural ability and intrinsic drive to learn.
Nicole has a master’s degree in education in school counseling, which drives her focus on social and emotional development and she loves to guide children to learn how to name feelings, express them appropriately, transition from independent play to parallel play and ultimately associative play and generally build self-confidence – all through fun and creative play.
Nicole grew up in Northern California and moved to Washington for college. She loves sports, good food, a fabulous hotel room and can’t live without coffee. She loves to cook, bake, run and explore the incredible Northwest with her family. She can’t wait to “dance, sing, create and explore” her way through the school year with your child.
Miss Adriane joined Rainy Dayz at the start of the 2018-2019 school year. She assists Miss Nicole in the Monday/Wednesday/Friday 3’s class.
Miss Tori joined Rainy Dayz for the 2016-2017 school year where she assisted in the 2’s Class. She was excited to become the school’s first 4’s Class teacher for the newly created class at the start of the 2017-2018 school year as a result of the preschool expansion.
Tori has cared for or taught children for the last 20 years in a variety of settings.
She lives in Gig Harbor with her recently retired husband. They have four kids ages 26, 17, 15 and 11. She enjoys riding motorcycles and camping with her family and also loves gardening and cooking.
Miss Aimee is the assistant teacher with Miss Tori and joined Rainy Dayz during the 2017-2018 school year.
She is married and has a son named Cash who attends Goodman Middle School. Her family moved to Gig Harbor from Huntington Beach, CA.
She has been in the education field in some way for over 15 years. She previously taught Pre-K for eight years, a 3-year-old class for six years and has also taught and subbed various grades in public school.
She enjoys nurturing children’s love of reading, science, art, and fluency.
Some of Aimee’s favorite things are cooking, gardening and helping her son on his Boy Scout projects.
Miss Hannah also joined Rainy Dayz at the start of the 2017-2018 school year, marking her first year teaching after graduating from Pacific Lutheran University with a bachelor’s degree in English.
What she enjoys most about working with the 2’s class is watching them grow into little people with strong personalities, likes and dislikes and opinions. Hannah says it’s “magical” and “extremely rewarding” to watch the 2’s transform from the start of school into more confident learners.
She also enjoys incorporating art and projects into the children’s learning and curriculum, noting “art has always been a big part of my life and being able to bring some of that into the classroom has been really fun.”
Miss Tee Tee joined Rainy Dayz at the start of the 2018-2019 school year and assists Miss Hannah in the Pre-K classroom. She was born and raised in North Carolina and earned her Bachelors of Science in Physical Education and Health Education from Methodist University. She has been working in early childhood since 2012. She is the oldest of 9 kids and loves watching, playing and coaching basketball and volleyball.
Miss Jenny joined Rainy Dayz at the start of the 2018-2019 school year leading one of our 2 Pre-K classes. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and Master’s degree from the University of Kansas. Over the past 15 years, Jenny has been involved in many aspects of early childhood education. She loves watching children grow and learn from the beginning to the end and seeing the joy in their eyes when they learn something new and exciting. When she’s not at school, she enjoys cooking, bargain shopping and spending time with her husband of 19 years, 3 children and 2 black labs.
Miss Heather joined Rainy Day this year (2018-2019 school year) to assist Miss Jenny in the Pre-K class. She’s lives in Gig Harbor with her husband and three kids, ages 18, 13, and 9. She stayed home for 6 years nurturing her children before going into banking as a loan officer. In her spare time, you’ll find her on the soccer field supporting and cheering on her kids in their passion for soccer. She loves to travel whenever possible and in her downtime she enjoys staying home to cook and watch movies with her loving family.
Becky and Sarah taught Pre-K for three years together at Rainy Dayz before moving into the co-director role in 2016.
From the directors:
We believe a child’s education is the most valuable opportunity we can give them. We are committed to the idea that all children learn through exploration and play. Our favorite phrase is “let them be little.” To us the most amazing thing is to see or hear one of our students apply the concepts they learned at Rainy Dayz and see the excitement in their little faces!
We believe that Rainy Dayz is a wonderful place for your child to begin their education both academically and emotionally. We have a strong staff with incredible passion for each individual child. We feel very proud and lucky to be part of such an amazing school!”
Miss Becky has been part of the Rainy Dayz team for seven years. Before becoming co-director she worked in the 4’s class, as well as Pre-K.
She graduated from Central Washington University in 2006. She lives in Gig Harbor with her husband and kids and their dog Goose. When she is not working, she loves to read, try new recipes, garden, watch her kids play sports and explore new places!
Miss Sarah began her early childhood career in 2006. She obtained her CDA in 2008 and previously taught 4’s and Pre-K classes. She has been at Rainy Dayz for five years.
Sarah enjoys working with the Rainy Dayz kids, families and the staff. She has two daughters and enjoys running, working in her yard and being involved in her kids’ activities.
